This was our first supper with WeFiFo and Loretta made us very welcome. We were a group of three friends. Loretta cooked a delicious three course Malaysian meal and taught us the correct way to use chopsticks for the noodles. The main course was Lorbak; a pork dish and family favourite that Loretta had learned to cook as a child with her mother. Loretta joined us at the table and told us many stories about food and life in Malaysia. She is a witty host and a first class cook.
In summary- a super evening, well worth the money, making new friends over superb food.
This was our first event and the Host made us most welcome (we were a bit early at their house) and the other 4 guests (that we did not know at all) were a good bunch as we had Great food and good conversation at the table. There was plenty of food and the Soup was Superb (best ever) and the Desert idea was novel and tasty.
Dan, uncle Jim, Paul and I had a jolly good time. Enjoyed the tasty food. Loretta and Hugh were great hosts as usual. Uncle Jim flew all the way from Ireland to attend the event when I told him what an excellent cook Loretta is. Paul was also intrigued by my description of Loretta's cooking skills. They both agreed with me after tasting the food. It was both Paul and uncle Jim's first WEFIFO experience and it turned out so well for them. Dan the 'regular' said he is never tired of Loretta's dishes. We were joined by a very friendly, down-to-earth couple, Ash and Julie that added merriment to the atmosphere.
The meal was fabulous - Loretta is a great host to match equally great food. The chicken was simply delicious, not to mention the fish balls and the brownie for dessert! A lot of love and preparation went into the evening - you can tell that Loretta is a born host who takes joy in cooking and hosting. Her witty personality and traditional food was a Saturday highlight, thank you :)
It was a lovely event in a homely athmosphere. I had to attend with our 7months old baby and the host Loretta was really helpful! There was plenty of food and a good variety. Caryn’s dish was also amazing! We also got to learn the customs to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Overall, it was a good experience. I would definitely recommend!
Loretta was warm and welcoming, offering us some nibbles and a glass of juice while she made the finishing touches to the meal. She explained all the dishes that make up the Penang Hainanese chicken dinner, as well as the customs surrounding them. The food was nicely presented and very tasty - there were several things I had not eaten before so it was lovely to experience new flavours like the poached lettuce which had a delicious sauce! The atmosphere was relaxed and the conversation continued late into the evening. Loretta gave us all a parting gift of homemade chocolate treats which was really appreciated. Thank you Loretta for a lovely evening :-)
Loretta was a lovely and very good host and I was made to feel very welcome. Each course of the Afternoon Tea was explained in detail with the ingredients content and how it was prepared/cooked, everything was tasty and new to my taste buds. A lovely introduction to Malaysian cuisine. Thank-you Loretta & hope to see you again soon.
She was kind and made me feel very welcome. I enjoyed the food very much. I enjoyed the desert the most and then the main meal. I had a great time chatting with the other guests. They were great people to hang out with.
Loretta is a very welcoming host.
She made great effort to explain about the food she has prepared.
The food was authentic and scrumptious. Very enjoyable time spent with host and her husband plus other guests
I didn’t know what to expect as this was the first time I had attended such an event. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening the food was great and it was accompanied with lively conversation for the others.
I had a lovely evening. Loretta is a great host, makes you feel really welcome and her and her partner keep the conversation lively. The other guests were great too! I’ll definately return and highly recommend her
Really honoured to be a guest to Loretta again. It was one of my best experiences in "eating out" - eating in with an acquaintance whom I could easily warm up to and without a doubt Loretta could eventually become a great friend! Foodwise, very tasty!
Loretta was so very welcoming and the perfect host from the minute we walked through the door we were made to feel at home and with friends. The Penang Hainanese Chicken Rice was to die for, I could have easily eaten my own body weight of it, it came with two dips and both of them were utterly delish - so much so that Loretta had to refill up the bowls twice! Loretta served a clear soup that was delicate, full of favour and like nothing I have ever tasted before. One of the vegetable side dishes was marinated lettuce - seriously this was a triumph - who knew that this humble vegetable could be expertly cooked in such a way. Dessert was a sublime chocolate and pistachio brownie, gooey and warm, served with fresh raspberries and ice cream. Please don't miss the opportunity to let Loretta wow you with her skill, talent and stories of life growing up in Malaysia, a very enjoyable evening.
Loretta was very friendly and chatty. So was Loretta's husband. They made us feel welcomed and comfortable. A variety of tasty snacks and drinks were served before the dinner. Dishes were cooked to perfection, especially the vegetables which were crunchy and not overcooked.
