Hosts - charming and informative.
First time hosts, so a few wrinkles needed sorting:-
Timing: too long between forage event until food & drink (standing out in cold!), although well handled as food & drink brought forward!
Excellent Venue - Historic & character interior. Nice and warm!
Food - robust & interesting; very local & home grown & preserved.
Sourdough Bread disappointing (too dark & heavy). Charcuterie pork beautifully creamy! Pork chop v-generous portion, very tasty fat, a little undercooked.
Wine flight excellent, good sommelier (informative and attentive)
Overall - excellent experience, would recommend it and come again!
From the moment we arrived, everything went perfectly. After a welcome talk by the chef Darren, we went for a foraging walk in the woods before returning to the stunning walled garden for a warming cup of fresh wellness tea. He certainly knows his stuff! The newly converted carriage house was the perfect venue for our evening meal, which was introduced by Henry. All the food was locally sourced, and the pork from the estate was delicious; sweet and succulent. The atmosphere was convivial and everyone was having a great time. We were lucky enough to be shown around the rest of the building. Every room has been sympathetically renovated, bringing out the original features.
All in all, a fabulously enjoyable evening!
Everything was superb from start to finish! The food was fantastic with plenty of it, the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable and the venue was beautiful, with excellent facilities. So much thought and detail has gone into this magical experience, there were 4 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would love to visit again. I would highly recommend! Our only disappointment was to hear that future events would be on Tuesdays and as much as I hope these are sold out for the owners, for us we would prefer a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
