LorBak a type of meat roll that is very popular in Penang. It is a wedding speciality in the years yonder. Now it is a favourite food found in restaurants . It is seasoned with Chinese spices and served with a special dip and sauces.
This meal is a family favourite. It is our family recipe created by me, and cooked and appreciated by other family members. I used to go to the kitchen of chefs who were preparing for wedding dinners and came back and tell my mum what the ingredients were. That was how the recipe came about.
Tonight's dinner will be lorbak served ala home style. Pork meat seasoned with spices and wrapped in dry bean curd sheets. It is then deep fried and served with chilli and plum sauce. We will have a vegetable to go with it. This time, we will have a starter, Penang Char Koay Teow. This is fried rice noodle with prawns and bean sprouts. It is a Penang speciality.
