My lovely boyfriend Alan works from home, all by himself, all day, with no one to share office banter with, which most of the time is OK but it means that his Christmas party has the potential to be a bit dull. Please come along to lunch, meet other home workers in the area and share some festive frivolity with scrumptious food and plenty of good cheer.
Welcome drink on arrival.
Norwegian fish soup - The soup is one of the best fish soups in the world, right up there with bouillabaisse.
This soup allows the flavour of the seafood to shine, proving that a handful of quality ingredients simply prepared can go a long way.
Roast Cauliflower chowder - Cauliflower and garlic are gently roasted together then combined with vegetable stock and cream to make this magical dish come alive, garnished with roasted cashews and parsley.
Lemon Sorbet to refresh the pallet.
Three bird roast served with massive huge Yorkshire puddings, soft fluffy crunchy roast potatoes, at least three different kinds of vegetables and two different flavours of stuffing with boats of homemade gravy.
Mushroom & tarragon strudels with Madeira sauce - The gourmet combination of mushrooms adds variety and texture to these filo parcels. Mushrooms of all shapes and sizes, shitake, chestnut, button to name but a few are seasoned with fresh tarragon Madeira and cream then wrapped in a duvet of filo pastry.
Christmas Pudding with brandy sauce, cream or ice-cream.
Warm Ecclefechan tart - Ecclefechan is a little place in Scotland, the birthplace of poet and author Thomas Carlyle and the home of Ecclefechan whiskey. The tart has a texture reminiscent of pecan pie but is spiced with cinnamon and lemon peel and studded with raisins - a bit more sophisticated than a mince pie with an added bonus of a hint of whiskey.
If you have room there is a selection of foreign and local cheese some hard, some soft - so soft they are practically gooey served with grapes, walnuts, quince jelly, fig jam and biscuits.
Freshly ground Brazilian coffee served with a variety of after dinner mints. Our variety of liqueur coffees knows no bounds. We have whiskey, both Irish and Scottish, Brandy, Tia Maria, Baileys, Tequila, Rum, Amaretto; you name it we’ve got it !!! There is also Yorkshire tea, mint tea, green tea, liquorice tea, pomegranate and apple tea and decaf coffee if anyone wants one.
And all served up with generous helpings of Christmas cheer.
