Award-winning sustainably minded nomadic cooks dedicated to curating unforgettable events in unique venues, often cooked over an open-fire.
Born out of a passion for local produce and seasonal ingredients, we’ve set out on an adventure to bring people together through food and fire in and around the South East of England.
Supper clubs, pop-up events and cookery courses in and around the South of England.
Our aim for each event is to champion seasonal and local producers and artisans. Be that honey, a locally brewed beer, a surplus food night or a wild game feast.
For us, food is for sharing and should always be at the heart of a memorable event. We’re big fans of the shared dining experience, so at most of our events you’ll be seated with your pals on sharing tables. To encourage conviviality, a number of the dishes are often designed for sharing and will be put in the centre of your tables for you all to enjoy! All of our platters celebrate both seasonal and local ingredients.
The Salt Box has a nose to tail and root to fruit ethos, which means our menus don’t always contain prime cuts of meat and fancy ingredients. We like to get creative and utilise as much of a plant, fruit or animal that we can.

Our Story
We both have a incessant passion for adventure.
Beckie loves to travel the world (one dish at a time), and Christian loves nothing more than spending time in the surrounding Surrey Hills woodland.
Together, we have an incredibly creative outlook on the future of food.
Since joining forces, we have strived to create a business which focuses on local, sustainable and ethical ingredients, cooked simply over fire. Startled by the limited knowledge regarding food within today’s society, we are keen to reconnect people with what’s on their plate.
Many people ask us if we will ever open a restaurant together – and the answer is simply no.
We don’t want to be confined by four walls. We want to move within the seasons, the elements, surrounded by the outdoors and crackling fires. We believe this is what stops us from ever becoming bored as cooks and keeps us driving forward with new ideas, using what are essentially ancient cooking techniques.

Food & Drink Award Winners
In September 2018, The Salt Box were the proud winners of the Surrey Life Magazine 'Newcomer of the Year' in the annual Food and Drink Awards. The team were recognised for their contribution to Surrey's food & drink scene, after welcoming over 1300 fantastic guests around their shared dining tables, hosting 14 Supper Clubs and providing feasts over fire for corporate guests and private customers alike. You may have heard Becky and Christian on BBC Radio Surrey - they were invited on to chat about their work in Surrey feeding members of their local community around fire, in Waitrose branches and in pop up venues.
