Bio
Suzanne James is a professional chef based in South East London. Her company is well now as one of the most sustainable, privately owned catering and events companies in London. Once or twice a month we turn our private venue 'fifty seven' into a pop up training academy under the banner of the "East Dulwich Supper Club". It allows our Westminster College apprentice chefs to work on a live pass in real time. The have creative input into the menu, design the plate and work out how service will run. Front of house service is also provided by our trainee waiting team who are just starting out in the industry, giving them a platform to learn & perfect their skills. Executive Chef Suzanne James and Head Chef Natalia Pereiro Taibo are of course on hand throughout to offer support & guidance; as always we make it happen, with just enough SJ Craziness to see it through! East Dulwich Supper Club is run on a Not for Profit Basis with all proceeds going to the Suzanne James Food Foundation. This provides funding to gardening projects, and particularly vegetable growing in local schools. Each guest is not only enjoying a delicious dinner but also supporting sustainability in local schools! The popularity and success of East Dulwich Supper Club speaks for itself, those who are lucky enough to get a seat are always keen to return again, and it has become something of an institution for some of our more regular guests!

Suzanne's supper club was such an enjoyable night! A lovely, intimate venue in Dulwich with bags of charm. All three courses were delicious, especially when it came to the Bakewell tart (...not one crumb left on a plate!) I really hope to return again soon - can highly recommend!

Vegan East Dulwich Supper Club

The evening started with a lovely welcome drink using Aperol which is one of my favourite spirits. The venue was a beautiful space, small and cosy with really nice furnishing. We had proper chair (with a back to them) on a nice long table all together. When it comes to supper clubs, there is always the worry of leaving the evening hungry. I can say that on this evening, there was more than enough food, and no one left even close to being hungry! The starter itself was like a main. It was delicious! The main was a Malabar coconut, cauliflower, spinach and chickpea curry with wild and long grain rice. This was so incredibly good and for so many reasons. Reason number one, it was cooked to perfection. The veg were still whole and had not melted into nothing. Reason two, the flavours were spot on and delicious. Reason three, the rice, which I’m not not normally a big fan of was fantastic. The grains really were very long, and light as air. There wasn’t a sticky part to them which was a nice change from cost curries. I’m not sure if it actually was, but this main felt healthy. For all I know if could be filled with unhealthy fats like coconut oil, but it surely didn’t seem like it. Overall, it was a really nice dinner. There were no frills to the night, just really great food and service.
