Say hello to Lerato Umah-Shaylor. She is a journalist, food writer, proud cook and TV star. Lerato’s love of food is no surprise – growing up in Nigeria with a restaurateur mother, she spent her childhood sneaking in to the kitchen to watch, learn and cook as much as she could.
Immensely proud of her African heritage, Lerato is on a mission to share the healthy, tasty and often un-represented food she has always known and loved. Her menus are vibrant, varied and often vegan or vegetarian.
Lerato hosts Supper Clubs in London and Brighton and teaches African cookery classes, guests get to know each other over huge plates of delicious food. Her hosting style, like her food, is warm, friendly and memorable.
Lerato is a regular contributor to the Nigerian Guardian, BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey, sharing her recipes, recommendations and insight in to African cuisine.
