Come and join me for dinner and a hot tub session
Feta salad with spinach, sumac, pinenuts and croutons - this is a really interesting twist on a salad. The citrus rush of the sumac mixed with the saltiness of the feta, the softness of the spinach with the crunch of the pinenuts and croutons means every mouthful is different.
Muhammara – this Syrian roasted red pepper dip has to be one of my favourites, the flavour of the roasted peppers and sweetness of the pomegranate molasses is fantastic. Warning this dip contains nuts.
Chickpea salad - Chickpeas and jujjed up using garlic, chillies, onion, lemon mint and coriander … it’s all in the secret dressing.
Avocado and tahini dip – this Middle Eastern take on Guacamole is extra delicious.
Now for the hot stuff
Cauliflower with saffron, pinenuts and raisins – I love cauliflower and it is always a challenge to find a recipe that puts a bit of glamour in to what can be a dull, white vegetable. The Saffron not only gives this dish a bit of pizzazz but turns the cauliflower golden yellow.
Hummus with minced lamb and pinenuts – There is something magical about homemade hummus and this dish is taken to new heights with the addition of cinnamon, lamb, sweet onions and tahini.
Chicken wings with tahini – This is a classic Lebanese dish tahini, crushed garlic, cumin, paprika and lemon make these ordinary chicken wings fly once more.
Peas and potatoes with anis - this one got me scratching my head but it does work.
Crunchy meringue with roasted rhubarb, pistachios, edible rose petal leaves and drizzled with rhubarb and rosehip syrup, one big one to share ……
If you have room there is a selection of foreign and local cheese some hard, some soft - so soft they are practically gooey served with grapes, walnuts, figs, biscuits and homemade chilli tomato chutney (made by Ginny). Let me know if you would like some.
Freshly ground Brazilian coffee served with a variety of after dinner mints. Our variety of liqueur coffees knows no bounds. We have whiskey, both Irish and Scottish, Brandy, Tia Maria, Baileys, Tequila, Rum, Amaretto; you name it we’ve got it !!! There is also Yorkshire tea, mint tea, green tea, liquorice tea, pomegranate and apple tea and decaf coffee if anyone wants one.
