Here is how this works - you buy one place at the table and get one place FREE - BUT you can only bring with you someone who has never been to Dinner@marias ever before .... come along and share the love! Just book one place then choose who to bring along.
Muhammara - this red pepper dip originates from Syria. Red peppers are gently roasted in the oven and then flavoured with cumin, garlic and chilles.
Avocado and tahini dip – This Middle Eastern take on guacamole is extra delicious, it has now become a firm favourite.
Butterbean and Za'atar dip - creamy, flavoursome and utterly irresistible.
All served with warm pitta and chunks of bread
Now for the hot stuff - not Alan the food!
Lamb Tagine. This is one of my favourite tagine dishes. The lamb is marinated in cinnamon, cumin, saffron, paprika, ginger, sea salt and pepper for about two hours before it is slow cooked to perfection for another three hours after which chunky root vegetables are added and then roasted together for another hour. I love to mush the roasted veg in to soak up this amazing sauce.
Roast butternut squash with a spicy tahini dressing - A secret mixture of lemon, garlic, chilli, tahini and parsley is drizzled over warm butternut squash and garnished with toasted walnuts and pine nuts, guaranteed to disappear as soon as it hits the table. I have honestly seen people not quite fight over the last bits but there has been a very polite stand-off …. I will make sure there is plenty!
Persian Rice, I love this way of cooking rice, you steam the rice with very little water in a large pan and when you turn it upside down it has a buttery crust to it, it is a bit of a unique taste.
For pudding we have ....
Sticky ginger cake with a clementine glaze - a bit like a posh parkin
Poached pears - these pears are gently poached in a bath of cinnamon, star anise, cloves and nutmeg - Christmas on a plate.
If you have room there is a selection of foreign and local cheese some hard, some soft - so soft they are practically gooey served with grapes, walnuts, quince jelly, fig jam, biscuits and a snifter of port.
