Advertised as a vegetarian feast there willbe plenty of vegan dishes too so if you are interested in trying out some vegan food come along. If you have been before and there is something you have had and want again that is not on the menu all you have to do is ask.
I am going to have a go at making a couple of new dishes (including vegan meringue made with chickpea water) so there will be more on the night but just to tempt your taste buds we will start off with .....
Avocado and bean salad - Its all in the lime chilli dressing, we cooked this at a recent Mexican night and they were literally fighting over the last beans in the dish.
Homemade Labneh - a yogurt based soft cheese with olives, pomegranate seeds and basil - go on dip it in and give it a whirl.
Roasted Red Onions with a Walnut Salsa - Not sure this needs much explanation red onions are roasted and dotted with some soft goats cheese and drizzled with the walnut dressing, trust me this is one of the most popular dishes at dinner and disappears as soon as it hits the table. (we can make this one without the cheese)
French beans, mangetout, peas, spinach and anything else green gets tossed in this yummy dressing.
Roasted cauliflower with a harissa and tomatoe dressing – Roasting does something magical to cauliflower.
Roast butternut squash with a spicy tahini dressing - A secret mixture of lemon, garlic, chilli, tahini and parsley is drizzled over warm butternut squash and garnished with toasted walnuts and pine nuts, guaranteed to disappear as soon as it hits the table. I have honestly seen people not quite fight over the last bits but there has been a very polite stand-off …. I will make sure there is plenty!
Something sweet …
Followed by Summer Fruit Pavlova – strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and any other berries I can get my hands on sit on a homemade crunchy meringue base, covered in softly whipped cream and drizzled with a passion fruit and lime coulis ……
Sticky Orange and Lemon Polenta Cake With a Zesty Citrus Drizzle - oranges and lemons are synonymous with the Mediterranean, vegann, gluten free, zesty and no calories (Ok there may be a few ....)
If anyone can find the space there is some cheese available, some hard, some soft so soft they are practically gooey served with grapes, figs, walnuts and a selection of biscuits. Just let me know if you would like some.
Fresh coffee served with a variety of after dinner mints.
There is also Yorkshire tea, mint tea, green tea, liquorice tea, pomegranate and apple tea and decaf coffee if anyone wants one.
