Pink grapefruit, (pomelo if I can get hold of it) and sumac salad with red onion and basil in a sweet chilli dressing - something about the word grapefruit makes people scrunch up their faces and wince but this underappreciated fruit is worth a bit of peeling effort. This starter will definitely wake up your taste buds.
Homemade Labneh - a Middle Eastern yogurt cheese with olives, pistachios and basil - go on dip it in and give it a whirl.
Tortilla - this classic Spanish dish is heaven on a plate. Quite simply eggs, potatoes and some sweet Spanish onion.
Cauliflower and cumin fritters with a lime yoghurt dressing - I love recipes that take what is otherwise an ordinary dull white vegetable and turns it into something magical. I bet you won't be able to just have one!
Spring salad - every shade of green goes into this vibrant, crunchy salad but its the dressing that makes this dish sing.
Chicken - mm let me have a think about this one ...
And Relax ......
Raspberry Cranachan trifle - An English trifle meets a Scottish classic- raspberries and cream with a crunchy honey and caramel oat crumb (ssshhhh there might be a bit of whiskey mixed in the cream).
Dark chocolate, Cardamom and Espresso Mouse Cake - where do I begin ... everyone loves chocolate cake, add into this love affair some rich espresso, a hint of spice and then make it lighter than air with a whisper of a kiss - and there you have it.
Then there is the mega cheeseboard - There will be a selection of foreign and local cheese some hard, some soft - so soft they are practically gooey served with grapes, walnuts, figs, biscuits, membrillo, a plethora of biscuits.
Freshly ground coffee served with a variety of after dinner mints - not just after eights - tonight we will bring out the posh stuff. There is also Yorkshire tea, mint tea, green tea, liquorice tea, pomegranate and apple tea and decaf coffee if anyone wants one.
