Jim Abbott joins me in the kitchen at Peckham Manor for an eight course tasting menu of food from his motherland Yorkshire and my great city London as we battle it out to see who has the best food. But we need you to eat the food and decide.
THE HEAVYWEIGHT BATTLE
Yorkshire Jim Abbott V London Ronnie Murray
Pease pudding & ham croquettes
Toad in the hole, Lincolnshire poacher, Yorkshire chutney
Whipped Peckham Manor smoked salmon, Graceburn cheese, chives
Roast rib of beef, mushroom gratin
Fish n chips, mushy peas, HP sauce
Jim Abbott hails from Yorkshire and has worked with me for many years; he was head chef at Mark Hix's Hixter restaurant, before moving to Wright Brothers as head chef of the Soho site. He is currently at the newly opened Isabelle in Mayfair. A chef Heavyweight for sure and trust me, the boy can cook. He is like all good Yorkshiremen, very proud of his roots. But it's time to settle the score and have the cook off we need to prove that we down south have the better food so I'll be cooking up four classic London dishes to go alongside Jim's four Yorkshire ones. Then after every course we will have a vote to see what you thought. The points will be added up as we go through the night and in the end, there can be only one winner but who will it be?
